Some systems companies are working on a new smart safety solution that combines a Lidar safety system with a Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera to aid in perimeter protection and intrusion detection.
As early as April 2016, a company announced Q-Guard, a complete LiDAR-based fence and intrusion detection security system. The software package includes one or more lidar-based detection sensors (S3 or M8 sensors) and awareness software modules for target tracking and classification. The system creates a virtual fence and can detect, track and classify objects within 150 meters. Works even under adverse weather conditions and can determine whether an object is human or not and reminds the security agent when appropriate.
The latest news is that already companies have integrated Q-Guard with Overview Ltd's PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera, allowing real-time detection, tracking and counting using 3D point clouds and color video. This combination makes it easier to track the subject in the designated area as the system automatically alerts and guides the camera to the detection area. The system can also zoom, focus and monitor a specific area of interest, and certain behaviors drive it to track and record within a given space.
